FAQ — ACM Remodeling

Question 1

How do I get an estimate?

Accepted Answer

Call or text us at 707.380.7450, or fill out our online estimate request form. We'll schedule a walkthrough at your property — usually within a few days — and provide a written estimate at no charge.

Question 2

Do you charge for estimates?

Accepted Answer

No. Estimates are always free. We'll visit your property, assess the scope of work, and give you a detailed written quote with no obligation.

Question 3

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

For larger remodels, 4–8 weeks of lead time is ideal. For repairs and smaller jobs, we can often schedule within 1–2 weeks. Emergency services are available 24/7 — call us any time.

Question 4

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

We serve Mendocino County (Ukiah, Willits, Fort Bragg, and surrounding areas), Lake County (Lakeport), and the Bay Area. Not sure if you're in our service area? Give us a call and we'll let you know.

Question 5

Are you licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ACM Remodeling is fully licensed with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and carries general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage. We're happy to provide proof of insurance upon request.

Question 6

Do you pull permits?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We handle all required permits for your project. Working without permits can create serious problems when you sell your home — we always do things by the book.

Question 7

What if a worker gets injured on my property?

Accepted Answer

Our workers' compensation insurance covers all employees on the job. You are not liable for injuries sustained by our crew while working on your property.

Question 8

How are projects priced?

Accepted Answer

We provide fixed-price contracts for most projects so you know exactly what you're paying before work begins. For larger or more complex jobs, we may use a time-and-materials structure — we'll explain the pricing model clearly in your estimate.

Question 9

Do you require a deposit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We typically require a deposit to secure your start date and cover initial materials. The deposit amount varies by project size and is outlined in your contract. Per California law, deposits are capped at 10% of the total contract price or $1,000 — whichever is less — for home improvement contracts.

Question 10

What if the project scope changes mid-job?

Accepted Answer

Any changes to the original scope are handled through a written change order that you approve before additional work begins. We never add costs without your knowledge and sign-off.

Question 11

How long will my project take?

Accepted Answer

Timelines vary widely by project type. A bathroom remodel might take 2–3 weeks; a full kitchen remodel 4–8 weeks; a room addition several months. We'll give you a realistic timeline in your estimate and keep you updated throughout the job.

Question 12

Do I need to be home during construction?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Many clients give us a key or access code and check in as needed. We'll communicate daily progress updates and flag any decisions that need your input right away.

Question 13

How do you handle cleanup?

Accepted Answer

We clean up the job site at the end of every workday. On completion, we do a full site cleanup and haul away all construction debris. We take pride in leaving your property cleaner than we found it.

Question 14

What if something goes wrong or I'm not happy with the work?

Accepted Answer

We stand behind our work. If something isn't right, call us and we'll make it right — no runaround. Our reputation is built on satisfied customers, and we won't consider a job done until you're happy.
